Setur Marinas Kaş Selected as “Jury’s Favourite Marina” at the Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous!
Setur Marinas, which aims to lead the sector in sustainability efforts, was awarded the title of “Jury’s Favourite Marina” at the Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous with the eco-friendly and innovative applications at Kaş Marina.
Setur Marinas, Turkey’s leading marina operator with a strong focus on sustainability in all its operations, participated in the Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous on September 22-23, 2024, showcasing the innovation and sustainability efforts of Kaş Marina.
The event, organized for the fourth time by Monaco Marina Management, brought together key industry players, investors, marina developers, architects, and manufacturers.
At the event, which aims to promote environmentally conscious and user-friendly marinas, Setur Marinas Kaş Marina Manager Tuncay Özses introduced the smart, sustainable, and innovative solutions implemented at the facility. Kaş Marina was selected as the “Jury’s Favourite Marina” among all participating marinas thanks to these solutions.
Kaş Marina: The Eco-friendly and Innovative Facility of the Mediterranean
As one of the most modern facilities in the Mediterranean region, Kaş Marina prioritizes global environmental risks such as climate change, plastic pollution, loss of natural resources, and biodiversity.
Since 2011, Kaş Marina has been awarded the “Blue Flag” status and has also won the “Best Environmental Education Activities” awards in 2011, 2022, and 2023. The marina, certified with the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, was twice recognized by Akdeniz University for its ‘Eco-Friendly Marina Management and Environmental Education Programs.’
In this ecologically sensitive region, Setur Marinas regularly monitors sea water quality and collaborates with environmental organizations and universities to protect marine life and support biodiversity. Under the ‘Smartium Clean Project,’ the marine surface cleaning robot developed by the marina helps reduce pollution in the seas. The solar energy investments and green energy procurement supported by international I-REC certificates also contribute to increasing the use of renewable energy.
Kaş Marina, which is certified with the National Zero Waste Certificate, aims to minimize waste and increase the recycling rate. The marina encourages responsible water use and has completely eliminated single-use plastic consumption among employees.
With its sustainability vision, Setur Marinas showcases these achievements on international platforms, such as the competitions and events organized by Monaco Marina Management and the Yacht Club de Monaco. Last year, Setur Marinas participated in this event with its Ayvalık Marina project, further strengthening its role as a pioneer in sustainability within the maritime sector.
